DiscOrion at Fuji
September 8th, 2008For the second race in a row, the Orion Race Team suffered the dreaded Disconnect. Frosty StClair didn't get everything out of the car in qualifying, with a 1:32.8, running a 1:32.2 the night before, starting 9th in class. Frosty then drove a solid 3 stints and made his way up to 3rd in class when he made his scheduled pitstop for the driver swap. Unfortunately the race ended shortly afterwards. Orion wasn't the only team to fall to the disconnect, even GT leaders and championship rivals SFH disconnected later on. With Tropical Storm Hannah making its way up the east coast, it is very likely that this attributed to the unusual amount of disconnections. Being this was just a 10 hour race, the idea of similar fate in a 24 hour race is undesirable. Check back for announcements on the Orion Race Team's plans for LeMans, set to take place in November.
